PRESENT TIME: 2023

INTRODUCTION:

Chinnu is a nerdy yet beautiful girl, both inside and out, who wears glasses. She has three best friends: Sony, Jia, and Eva. Due to her beauty and intelligence, she is often bullied by Jessi and Tina.

Chinnu lives with her friends because her parents died when she was 10 years old. She's been bullied and insulted since childhood, which has led her to suffer from PTSD and frequent nightmares. Despite her struggles, the thought of her friends keeps her from ending her life.

Chinnu is a medical student with a keen interest in ancient medical herbs and history. She often visits the library with her friends, who are also medical students: Jia, Sony, Eva, Tina, and Jessi.

CHINNU'S POV:

I woke up to the chirping of birds. As the sunlight hit my face, I squinted and opened my eyes to see our family photo hanging on the wall. As part of my daily habit, I greeted my parents in the photo.

I went to the bathroom, completed my morning routine, and headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for myself and my friends. While I was cooking, Sony walked in with her sleepy face.

Sony: Good morning, Chinnu.

Me: Good morning.

Sony: How did you sleep?

Me: As usual, with nightmares.

Sony: You should sleep with us.

Me: No, I don't want to disturb your sleep.

Sony: At least for one day, please? (Showing puppy eyes)

Me: Aigoo, okay. But only one day.

Sony: Yay, okay.

Jia: What are you both doing? (Jia startled Sony and me)

Sony: AH! You startled us.

Me: Just chit-chat. (Answered while preparing breakfast)

Jia: Hm. By the way, shall we go to the library today after college?

Me: Yeah, sure.

Sony: Okay.

(While we were talking, Eva walked into the kitchen.)

Sony: Oh my god! What am I seeing?

Me: What happened, Sony?

Sony: Eva woke up early today. That’s very rare.

Eva: Yay! Can't I wake up early?

Jia: Oh my god! Stop your drama already and sit down to eat breakfast.

(Sony and Eva nodded and sat down.)

SONY'S POV:

After breakfast, we headed to our respective classes. Chinnu and I were in the same class, while Jia and Eva were in another. When we entered the class, someone poured juice on Chinnu. That’s when I noticed it was Tina and Jessi.

Me: What the hell are you both doing? (While helping Chinnu)

Jessi: Lower your voice, or do you also want me to pour some juice on you?

Me: Don’t you dare— (I was cut off by Chinnu's crying.)

Chinnu: Don’t worry, I’m okay.

Me: No, you are not. Let’s go to the restroom and change your dress. (Chinnu nodded, and we went to the restroom.)

Chinnu: Thank you, Sony, for helping me.

Me: I’m your friend, so I did my job. (Chinnu hugged me and started crying like a baby. I patted her back to calm her down.)

JIA'S POV:

After college, we went to the library. We were shocked to find that there was no one else there, as this library is usually very popular.

Sony: Why are there no people in the library, ahjumma? (She asked the librarian.)

Librarian: We’re renovating the library, dear.

Sony: Oh, okay, ahjumma.

Eva: So, ahjumma, what story are you going to tell us today?

(The librarian is very close to us, and she always tells us stories when we visit.)

Librarian: The story of a faceless king, dear.

Chinnu: Oh, ahjumma, I’m very excited to hear the story.

Me: Yay! Thanks, ahjumma, for telling us the story.

Librarian: It’s okay, dear.
